Who We Are & How We Got Started
We have known each other our entire lives. Our parents’ lifelong friendship brought us up side by side, and today we are grateful to be “aunties” to each other’s children, who share the same close and meaningful bond.
Krafting is in our blood — From our grandparents to our moms (and we can’t forget our KraftyDads), we are the third generation of Krafters, with our children proudly following as the fourth. With a shared love of Krafting and event planning, we launched our first KraftyMoms Retreat in 2018. What began as a passion project has grown into a community of KraftyFriends that we deeply cherish.
We are often asked, “Do you need to be a mom to attend one of our retreats?” The answer is absolutely not! Our retreats are open to anyone who loves to kraft. The name KraftyMoms simply grew from a playful nod to our names — Kristyn and Michaelyn — and since we’re both moms, it felt like the perfect fit.
Today, we host two retreats each year, bringing together Krafters of all styles and skill levels. Our retreats are designed to be a space for relaxation, creativity, fun and of course – KraftyFriends!
Kristyn
Hi, I’m Kristyn, one of the co-founders of KraftyMoms Retreats. Creativity and connection have always been a big part of my life, and I love creating a space where women can relax, be creative, and build lasting friendships.
I’m also a teacher at a Child Care & Development Center, where I have the joy of working with young children and being part of their early growth.
I became a mom in 2007 to my daughter, Lylliana, and love sharing my passion for crafting with her—my very own next-generation KraftyMom.
My creative journey started with scrapbooking and has grown into digital design, event planning, and many handmade projects alongside my amazing KraftyBestie. When I’m not crafting or planning retreats, you’ll usually find me thrifting with my boyfriend, hunting for unique treasures. 💜
Michaelyn
My name is Michaelyn, aka Mikie, and I’m the other half of KraftyMoms. I grew up krafting with my family — from painting and woodworking to stained glass, welding, and more. My mom introduced me to scrapbooking when I was very young, and I’ve loved it ever since (both paper and digital). I take more pictures than I know what to do with, and I love fussy cutting, glitter, and nit-picking all the tiny details.
I’ve been married to my adrenaline-junkie husband since 2011 (though we’ve been together since 2005), and we have two amazing kids. Our daughter is an avid gymnast and our son loves soccer. When we’re not running between activities, we enjoy vacationing, boating, and snowmobiling as a family. We also run an online business selling PoolTree Systems for closing above-ground pools.
My favorite part of KraftyMoms is the friendships, laughter, and creativity that fill the room. Seeing everyone connect, share ideas, and spend time doing what they love is what makes these retreats so special. Outside of KraftyMoms, I’m a registered nurse with a love for labor and delivery. 💜
